Responsibilities
- Lead major initiatives spanning software, infrastructure, deep learning, and computer vision from ideation through production iteration.
- Make consequential architectural decisions balancing velocity, reliability, maintainability, performance, and cost.
- Prototype, code, and debug high-leverage problems across models, software, infrastructure, hardware, and data.
- Turn ambiguous goals into pragmatic designs, milestones, and clear ownership.
- Raise engineering effectiveness through technical direction, delegation, review, mentorship, and barrier removal.
- Own production outcomes with high autonomy and lead through technical judgment, communication, and example.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in either computer vision and deep learning or production systems and infrastructure.
- Demonstrated success building substantial technical systems alongside multiple engineers.
- A track record of making sound architectural decisions and pragmatically evolving complex systems.
- Significant recent experience designing systems, writing production code, and debugging difficult cross-system failures.
- Strong communication skills, especially when framing technical decisions and tradeoffs.
- Passion for learning and ability to work across different parts of the stack.
- Preferred experience includes leading engineers across machine learning and infrastructure, GPU systems, distributed systems, Kubernetes, AWS, MLOps, production computer vision, hiring or managing engineers while remaining technical, and significant open-source contributions or publications.
