Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance code for the GFDL T-SHiELD near-real-time hurricane prediction system.
  • Improve the FV3 dynamical core, physical parameterizations, and model initialization techniques.
  • Develop software for turbulence-permitting high-resolution hurricane modeling and unified sub-grid diffusion.
  • Develop and maintain regional coupled atmospheric-ocean-wave modeling software.
  • Perform code and software management, scientific analysis, technical support, algorithm development, and model-prototype evaluations.
  • Maintain data-processing infrastructure and archive data and products for future analysis.
  • Author or co-author manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prepare and present research findings at AGU, AMS, and other scientific conferences or workshops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and nine or more years of experience, or master’s degree and seven or more years of experience, or PhD/JD and four or more years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
