Base Salary
$197k - $314k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement security detection and enforcement software for large-scale production database systems.
- Build static and dynamic analysis pipelines for SQL injection, privilege escalation, broken access control, and tenant-isolation vulnerabilities.
- Apply ML to detect data exfiltration, insider threats, and unusual access to customer data.
- Build least-privilege, scoped-access, sandbox-isolation, and runtime-monitoring guardrails for AI agents and LLMs operating on production databases.
- Ship real-time automation for detecting and responding to fast, automated attacks.
- Drive vulnerability management and software composition analysis across the database platform.
- Partner with database engineering teams to embed security from design review through production rollout.
- Lead threat modeling, architecture risk analysis, and cross-team security discussions.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of database security, including multi-tenant isolation, access control, and data governance.
- Experience leading threat modeling and architecture risk analysis for complex distributed database cloud environments.
- Expertise designing consistent security policies across AWS and GCP and mitigating provider-specific edge cases.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and programming skills in Python, Rust, or Go.
- Hands-on experience building or improving security detection and enforcement software for large-scale production database systems.
- Track record of shipping and operating production software at scale, with emphasis on direct delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to gain buy-in without formal authority.
- 10+ years of professional experience.
- Experience with large-scale distributed databases or multi-tenant SaaS architectures is preferred.

- The stated base salary range is $197,300–$313,700 annually, or $237,700–$344,700 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan areas; bonus, equity, and benefits are excluded from these ranges.
