Base Salary
$124k - $329k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and ship scalable technical solutions across multiple GitHub services.
- Lead reliability improvements, monitoring, operational tooling, incident investigation, and carefully staged production changes.
- Own system health and quality, including participation in on-call and first-responder rotations.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, pairing, and code reviews.
- Write architecture briefs and proposals, run experiments, and build prototypes for planetary-scale systems.
- Design and implement APIs for integration between software components.
- Set up automated continuous integration and delivery pipelines using CI/CD tools.
- Write maintainable production code and collaborate with infrastructure, security, and product teams.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of software engineering or related technical experience with production software development, or the stated associate, bachelor's, master's, doctorate, or equivalent-experience alternatives.
- At least 1 year of technical leadership experience.
- At least 6 years of experience building, deploying, and maintaining distributed services at scale.
- At least 3 years of experience with general-purpose programming languages such as Go, Ruby, or Rust.
- Preferred: at least 6 years of experience with Redis, S3, or Azure Storage.
- Preferred: experience with infrastructure as code, configuration management, and tools such as Terraform, Puppet, and Ansible.
- Preferred: at least 3 years of experience with scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
