Base Salary
$78k - $156k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver AI-enabled product features, including LLM capabilities, machine-learning models, RAG, and automation pipelines.
- Implement AI solutions that improve internal engineering and software quality processes.
- Make implementation-level design decisions involving AI libraries, frameworks, and models within approved architecture and guardrails.
- Evaluate and document tradeoffs involving performance, accuracy, safety, and cost.
- Support Abbott’s AI Ops initiatives and deploy models to public cloud infrastructure such as AWS.
- Collaborate with product stakeholders to identify and validate machine-learning use cases and communicate findings to nontechnical audiences.
- Translate technical architecture into working, tested, maintainable code and contribute documentation, reusable patterns, training materials, and lessons learned.
- Use approved AI development tools throughout the software lifecycle while maintaining quality, cybersecurity, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 4+ years of related experience.
- Demonstrated experience delivering AI or machine-learning solutions into production products or internal engineering platforms.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, model fine-tuning, and supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised learning.
- Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and collaborative software development in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, algorithms, and data structures.
- Programming, database, advanced analytics, and dashboard development experience, including Python or R, SQL, big-data platforms, Power BI, or QlikView.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining accountability for technical decisions, code quality, security, and deliverables.
- Preferred: master’s or doctoral degree, medical-device or digital-health software experience, regulated-environment experience, model monitoring, MLOps, responsible AI, requirements traceability, validation evidence, and risk-aware development.
