Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate reliable, low-latency fraud prevention services and APIs.
- Deliver new fraud capabilities and improve existing production systems individually and collaboratively.
- Modernize and standardize Python services, shared patterns, development tooling, and engineering practices.
- Apply AI-assisted and agentic software engineering approaches to improve development speed, quality, and maintainability.
- Design and operate AWS cloud-native, serverless, and event-driven architectures.
- Integrate with Q2’s enterprise banking platform, including modifying C#/.NET integration points when needed.
- Improve observability, testing, deployment practices, and operational reliability across production services.
- Partner with data scientists, product teams, and engineers to bring fraud detection capabilities into production.
- Research and apply technologies and engineering approaches that meaningfully improve the platform.
- Mentor other engineers and establish maintainable patterns and strong engineering practices.
Requirements
- Strong experience building and operating production software systems.
- Deep proficiency in Python and experience building maintainable services and APIs.
- Strong cloud architecture knowledge and experience designing systems in AWS or a comparable cloud platform.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, modern CI/CD practices, distributed systems, event-driven systems, or serverless systems.
- Understanding of API design, system integration, reliability, and production observability.
- Ability to work effectively in large or complex enterprise codebases and across technologies as needed.
- Experience with Git-based development workflows and modern Python development tooling.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Interest in using AI-powered and agentic development tools to improve software engineering workflows.
- Preferred experience with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, Kinesis, S3, CloudFormation, SAM, Terraform, CDK, UV, C#, .NET, Java, machine learning systems, real-time model inference, mature production systems, and banking, payments, or fraud-prevention platforms.
- Fluent written and oral communication in English.
