Base Salary

$105k - $235k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operation of highly scalable platform services.
  • Evolve middleware patterns and runtimes to standardize interoperability across teams and services.
  • Define API versioning, deprecation, rollout, and interoperability strategies that minimize downstream disruption.
  • Drive shared observability baselines, service-level objectives, error budgets, resilience patterns, and service reliability improvements.
  • Design and implement scalable software solutions, conduct code reviews, and guide software development lifecycle improvements.
  • Debug complex software issues, resolve API and integration problems, and perform performance profiling and optimization.
  • Provide architectural guidance, coach junior and less experienced engineers, and uphold software and coding standards.
  • Support customer-reported issue resolution and translate customer feedback into product enhancements.
  • Perform system maintenance, upgrades, patching, testing, automation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate moderately complex projects and participate in candidate interviews and hiring recommendations.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in a software-engineering-related position, including at least half in an Agile/DevOps environment.
  • At least 5 years of Java development or development in an object-oriented language.
  • At least 5 years of experience building and operating distributed systems.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, relational databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, performance tuning, software testing, observability, and scalable-system design skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Highly desirable: strong Linux/Unix fundamentals and knowledge or working experience in cryptography.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, mentor engineers, collaborate across teams, and operate effectively amid ambiguity.

  • The U.S. hiring range is $104,500 to $234,600 per annum, with potential eligibility for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
