Responsibilities
- Lead customer discovery, understand codebases and workflows, identify valuable bottlenecks, and define success metrics.
- Design and ship production agents, AI applications, and coding-agent workflows on Grok and SpaceXSI models.
- Integrate systems with customer authentication, data, tools, workflows, and delivery systems, including tools, MCP servers, retrieval, rules, skills, CI gates, and evaluations.
- Launch initial versions quickly, then improve them through rollout, monitoring, production tracing, evaluation, debugging, and real-usage iteration.
- Own production reliability and quality, including metrics, alerts, safe rollouts, incident response, and latency and cost tradeoffs.
- Measure business outcomes such as revenue, cost, hours saved, error rate, cycle time, and escaped defects.
- Collaborate with Staff+ leaders, platform teams, domain leaders, engineers, and VPs while communicating technical tradeoffs and results.
- Enable customer teams to operate what was built and convert field learnings into reusable SpaceXSI product patterns.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, machine learning engineering, or data science.
- Ability to write and review production code in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript; other languages are welcome.
- Experience owning customer or operator outcomes and turning ambiguous problems into scoped, shipped systems.
- Experience building and operating AI-native workflows or agents in production and debugging model, tool, data, pipeline, or delivery failures.
- Experience with production reliability, including metrics, alerts, safe rollouts, and incident response.
- Ability to build end to end across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and prompt iteration.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments without a complete specification and communicate with both engineers and VPs.
- Preferred: 2+ years in a customer-facing role with discovery and accountability for external stakeholder outcomes.
- Preferred: hands-on depth in agents and tool-calling, evaluation harnesses, retrieval and context systems, CI/CD or developer platforms, and AI-native coding workflows in a real repository.
- Preferred: experience as a forward-deployed, solutions, or platform engineer embedded with customers, or as a founding engineer owning an AI product end to end.
