Responsibilities
- Design enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software.
- Analyze designs and determine coding, programming, and integration activities based on product architecture and objectives.
- Write and execute testing plans, protocols, documentation, scripts, and tools; debug issues and create integration solutions.
- Lead project teams and internal or outsourced development partners in delivering reliable, cost-effective, high-quality software.
- Collaborate with management and development partners on software design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
- Represent the software systems engineering team on larger and more complex development projects.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- Typically 6–10 years of experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with C/C++ programming and software development.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, particularly TCP/IP, routing, and network communication protocols.
- Experience designing and developing software systems for Linux/Unix-based operating systems and multiple platform types.
- Experience with software systems design tools, programming languages, testing methodologies, test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
- Hands-on experience with VPN technologies, including IPsec and SSL/TLS, and PKI.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, and communication skills, including the ability to communicate architectures and negotiate options with management.
