Responsibilities
- Develop scalable web services that make big data available in real time for in-product applications.
- Align event-driven solutions with company-wide technology direction in partnership with data architects.
- Lead fast-moving development teams and multiple complex software development projects.
- Drive best practices for unit testing, CI/CD, performance testing, capacity planning, documentation, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
- Provide technical leadership and expertise in Kubernetes, Kafka, DynamoDB, S3, and Spring Boot.
- Communicate progress, risks, decisions, and results across organizational levels, including senior leadership.
- Translate business objectives into scalable solutions while meeting customer needs and deadlines.
- Support professional development through conferences, classes, technical presentations, and developer communities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science required; a master's degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of object-oriented programming experience using Java, Scala, or Python.
- At least 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- At least 5 years of experience integrating technical processes and business outcomes, including data analysis, data quality monitoring, data architecture, and policy or standards development.
- Strong computer science, data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, database, SQL, performance, and schema design fundamentals.
- Strong technical leadership experience across multiple complex software development projects using agile methodologies.
- At least 3 years of experience working with cloud technologies.
- At least 5 years of DevOps experience involving configuration, optimization, backup, high reliability, monitoring, and systems version control.
- Experience with Kafka, Spark, DynamoDB, AWS, and AWS services such as S3 and EMR is preferred.
- Experience working with data from multiple sources and understanding data quality and service-level agreements.
- Open-source contribution history is preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, influencing, relationship-building, and matrix-environment skills.
