Base Salary
$220k - $405k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop frontier context-layer applications and agent capabilities on top of Perplexity Computer.
- Apply machine learning and large language model techniques to personalization, memory, context summarization, retrieval, ranking, recommendations, and monetization applications.
- Build automated research and experimentation harnesses for offline and online techniques, including quality and impact metrics.
- Own the model lifecycle from research to production, including data analysis, modeling, evaluation, A/B testing, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers to deliver meaningful product improvements.
- Evaluate and incorporate emerging AI and machine learning research and algorithms into the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping robust AI products for large-scale, user-facing or data-driven products.
- Strong software engineering skills in Python and experience with production-quality codebases and agentic coding tools.
- Experience across the full AI lifecycle, including data analysis, rigorous evaluation, and ongoing monitoring and improvement.
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience collaborating in high-velocity, cross-functional teams and communicating effectively.
- Experience with LLM context engineering or harness engineering is a bonus.
- Experience in mid-training or post-training frontier open-source models is a bonus.
- Experience with large-scale user-centric and content-centric personalization, including user modeling, retrieval, and content ranking, is a bonus.
