Base Salary
$207k - $244k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain production ML models and AI services.
- Build production systems using LLM APIs, classical models, fine-tuning, structured outputs, function calling, and rules as appropriate.
- Write clean, well-structured, testable software with APIs, abstractions, error handling, and monitoring.
- Partner with Product Engineering and Product teams to translate business problems into ML solutions and define API contracts.
- Build evaluation frameworks, run experiments, and iterate on model and system performance.
- Automate workflows, build agentic pipelines, and contribute reusable skills and context to Checkr’s agentic platform.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent depth from experience.
- At least 6 years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years building ML systems running in production.
- Strong Python fluency and experience writing clean, testable, well-structured object-oriented code.
- Production experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, structured outputs, function calling, cost management, and evaluation.
- Experience building and maintaining APIs, working with CI/CD pipelines, and shipping software used by other engineers.
- Experience with AI-assisted workflows, LLMs, code-generation tools, or agentic systems in production or operational contexts is preferred.
- Preferred experience includes MLflow, SageMaker, Vertex, document processing, OCR, information extraction, PySpark, Ruby, dbt, Snowflake, or modern ELT/data transformation tools.
- Experience in compliance-sensitive domains such as fintech, legal tech, or HR tech is preferred.
