Base Salary
$175k - $228k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end usage-based billing capabilities covering pricing, payments, usage tracking, contracts, entitlements, and revenue data pipelines.
- Determine where to extend third-party billing integrations and where to build internal billing primitives.
- Collaborate with Product and Customer Success to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable billing solutions for international markets and enterprise resellers.
- Own interfaces with Metronome and Stripe and maintain internal datasets for invoices and revenue reports.
- Perform and automate billing operations such as enterprise contract amendments, pricing configuration changes, and billing support escalations.
- Partner with Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders on compliance-related technical decisions.
- Lead large-scale, cross-team technical projects from inception through completion.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of correctness, idempotency, reconciliation, retry logic, and audit trails in billing systems.
- Experience building usage-based billing, subscription, and invoice services.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping backend or platform systems in production.
- 3+ years leading large-scale, complex projects as a technical lead.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through technical design documents, architectural diagrams, or public presentations.
- Experience with operational B2B or B2C billing, global payment systems, international tax regulations, currency conversion, or local payment methods is preferred.
- Experience with revenue reconciliation, financial reporting pipelines, or audit-sensitive systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with usage-based billing platforms such as Metronome is preferred.
- Expertise programming backend systems in Go is preferred.
- Familiarity with using AI in day-to-day coding.
- Strong ownership, autonomy, and ability to navigate ambiguity.
