Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure for compute, networking, CI/CD, and observability.
- Improve developer experience by reducing friction and toil and creating easy-to-use paved paths.
- Lead production issue triage by analyzing logs and data, writing scripts when needed, and driving incidents to resolution.
- Advance infrastructure architecture with a focus on simplicity, scalability, and maintainability.
- Use AI tools effectively and help teammates adopt them productively.
- Partner with engineering teams to translate their needs into infrastructure decisions.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience configuring, operating, or maintaining Kubernetes or similar clusters, including node pools, upgrades, scaling, and networking.
- Experience writing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code with Terraform or an equivalent such as Pulumi or CloudFormation.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and sound judgment regarding simple, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure architecture.
- Experience owning production triage, reading logs, forming hypotheses, scripting for investigation, and driving issues to root cause.
- A combination of infrastructure/DevOps and Python software engineering skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs to engineers and non-infrastructure stakeholders.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve work effectiveness.
- A collaborative approach to enabling the broader engineering organization.
- Desirable experience with Google Cloud Platform, particularly GKE Autopilot or a comparable managed Kubernetes environment.
- Desirable experience with gRPC, Postgres at scale, service-oriented architectures, infrastructure or developer-experience tooling at a growth-stage company, regulated environments such as HIPAA, or ownership of an internal platform or paved-path initiative.
