Responsibilities
- Define Tailscale's internal AI-enablement priorities and roadmap with engineering leadership.
- Collaborate on building Aperture, Tailscale's AI gateway.
- Develop and maintain internal tools and workflows for effective AI usage.
- Evaluate new AI models and recommend adoption strategies.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI across engineering and non-engineering teams.
- Create infrastructure and documentation for safe AI code usage.
- Advocate for effective AI practices through teaching and internal talks.
- Track AI tooling adoption and measure its impact on engineering velocity.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Hands-on fluency with modern AI coding tools like Claude Code and Codex.
- Experience in building and shipping internal tools or developer automation.
- Strong communication skills for teaching and influencing engineers.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and prioritize effectively in a small team.
- Product or systems thinking to identify high-leverage opportunities.
