Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the technical vision and architecture of EP&R systems for high availability, resilience, scalability, and operational effectiveness during peak-demand emergency events.
- Design, develop, review, and support backend-focused software solutions across the technology stack.
- Partner with customers, engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities and align technical investments with priorities.
- Break complex and ambiguous challenges into actionable deliverables and lead technical direction through collaboration.
- Mentor and coach engineers while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing engineering culture.
- Define and use metrics to evaluate system health, customer impact, and operational effectiveness.
- Design systems and operational processes that anticipate risks, failure scenarios, and business continuity needs.
- Promote engineering excellence across availability, reliability, scalability, latency, cost efficiency, security, and maintainability.
- Champion AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices to improve productivity, quality, and delivery effectiveness.
Requirements
- 6-8 years of professional software engineering experience, including technical leadership and mentoring experience.
- Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, with backend-focused full-stack development experience.
- Demonstrated success designing, building, and operating highly available, scalable, and maintainable production systems.
- Strong understanding of system architecture and non-functional requirements, including availability, scalability, reliability, security, performance, cost optimization, and maintainability.
- Experience using data, metrics, and analytical thinking to guide technical and business decisions.
- Experience influencing technical direction, driving alignment, and delivering results collaboratively.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices.
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience in high-impact, time-sensitive, or surge-demand environments such as emergency response, logistics, workforce management, staffing, marketplaces, or critical infrastructure.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, cloud platforms, observability, monitoring, incident response, and operational excellence practices.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical strategy across multiple teams.
- Exposure to workforce management, procurement, utility operations, or supply-and-demand optimization domains.
- Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience working within Utilities, Energy, or Critical Infrastructure sectors.
