Responsibilities
- Design and evolve scalable, secure, fault-tolerant distributed systems in an event-driven microservices architecture.
- Own backend service architecture and develop reusable services, APIs, and shared components for internal developers.
- Translate product requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with Product, Design, Quality, and Data teams.
- Own the software development lifecycle from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and production support.
- Write clean, robust, well-tested code and reduce technical debt through sound design and engineering practices.
- Guide architectural decisions, mentor engineers through code reviews, and support the team during production incidents.
- Integrate AI-assisted development tools into daily engineering workflows and help the team adopt effective practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations and support production systems.
Requirements
- 7+ years of backend or full-stack development experience building scalable and reliable backend systems.
- Proven experience with AWS services, including Lambda, API Gateway, and S3.
- Strong experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with event-driven systems and messaging, such as Kafka, SQS, and SNS.
- Strong system design expertise and hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting production systems.
- Strong understanding of clean-code principles and backend design patterns.
- Experience writing and maintaining automated unit and integration tests.
- Experience improving CI/CD pipelines and enforcing testable coding practices.
- Proficiency with Git and modern collaboration workflows.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools in software workflows, including the ability to explain their benefits, limitations, and lessons learned.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and support production systems.
- Preferred experience includes PHP, Serverless Framework, OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, Protobuf, gRPC, Go, mobile application backends, shared platforms, large-scale distributed systems, and open-source libraries.
