Responsibilities
- Develop production-quality backend payment features using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design and implement robust, performant REST and SOAP APIs.
- Build and manage 3D Secure, SEPA/IBAN direct-debit, unpaid-payment, payment-provider, and new-payment-method integrations.
- Contribute to technical architecture decisions and work across banking and logistics domains.
- Optimize latency and throughput and help ensure 24/7 high availability.
- Implement monitoring and observability, manage production incidents, and apply unit, integration, and end-to-end testing practices.
- Collaborate with product, business, and other engineering teams, share technical knowledge, and document solutions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend development experience.
- Significant experience on at least one long-term project involving payment flows and payment methods.
- Experience with highly available, high-load environments.
- Strong Java and Spring Boot skills at a senior level.
- Experience designing REST and SOAP APIs, implementing observability metrics, working with relational databases such as MySQL, and using ORM technologies such as Hibernate and JPA.
- Knowledge of high-performance distributed systems.
- Autonomy, pragmatism, technical curiosity, persistence, teamwork, and the ability to communicate with business teams.
- Interest in progressing technically rather than becoming a manager in the short term.
