Responsibilities
- Improve the full lifecycle of platform services, including inception, design, deployment, operation, and refinement.
- Design software platforms and frameworks, support capacity planning, and conduct launch reviews.
- Build and maintain automated build and deployment pipelines, including security-scan-based pipeline procedures.
- Automate routine tasks and scale systems sustainably through automation.
- Measure and monitor availability, latency, and overall system health of live services.
- Improve reliability and delivery velocity through platform changes and participate in incident response and retrospectives.
- Provide technical guidance to software development and platform infrastructure teams on code development and deployment.
- Manage version control of release artifacts to support upgrades and rollbacks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 7–10 years of experience as a Platform Engineer.
- At least 5 years of programming experience in Python, including debugging, code optimization, and task automation.
- Eligibility to obtain a security clearance and U.S. citizenship.
- Understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems and containerization of web applications.
- Experience building continuous, automated build and deployment pipelines, including procedures conditioned on security scans of source code and artifacts.
- Experience with container orchestration engines such as K8s, EKS, AKS, GKE, Kops, or OpenShift.
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD and Bash shell scripting.
- Ability to provide meaningful guidance across software development and platform infrastructure teams and work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
- Preferred qualifications include Agile, Lean, DevOps, Cloud, Security+, or another professional certification; familiarity with DoD and federal security standards; knowledge of the Army software development process; agile software development experience; and consultant/client-environment experience.
