Base Salary
$149k - $238k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and operate critical platform networking for Axon’s cloud systems, including service mesh, ingress, TLS and certificate automation, DNS, edge routing, and operational automation.
- Develop, harden, and improve Istio-style service mesh capabilities and production rollout processes.
- Ship infrastructure-as-code and software-backed controls for reliable, observable cloud platforms and address vulnerabilities in regulated environments.
- Advise software engineers through design reviews, technical questions, and pair programming related to networking, ingress, service mesh, and TLS.
- Automate operations to support highly available, four-nines-class platform components and prevent customer-visible outages.
- Debug production cloud-native distributed systems across HTTP, TLS, DNS, load balancing, Kubernetes networking, and cloud edges.
Requirements
- At least six years of experience working on globally diverse, 24/7, high-volume production systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
- Strong experience in at least one of the following: operating Kubernetes components at scale; infrastructure-as-code and automated delivery on public cloud; production software in Python, Go, or Java including Scala; or production ownership of service mesh, ingress, TLS/certificate automation, DNS, public-edge patterns, or secure east-west traffic.
- Excellent problem-solving skills debugging cloud-native distributed systems involving HTTP/TLS, DNS, load balancing, and Kubernetes networking.
- Familiarity with a GitOps-style approach to software and infrastructure delivery.
- Ability to work empathetically with software engineers who have varying levels of networking expertise.
