Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy for the team over a year-long time horizon and connect it to critical business-impacting projects.
- Lead software engineering for all EU card systems and own architecture across cards and EU counterparts.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle to manage sustainability, risks, and trade-offs.
- Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that increase team effectiveness.
- Own team operations and availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call practices.
- Establish code review and design standards and promote quality and ownership through writing and technical talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Proficiency designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency developing front-end applications.
- Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through technical and execution planning.
- Ability to write high-quality, understandable, reusable code and work from low-level language idioms through large-system architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to gather and iterate on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
