Responsibilities
- Define and enforce meaningful SLOs for APIs, websockets, jobs, and renders, with effective dashboards and alerting.
- Build reliable inference routing through provider failover, model fallbacks, queue prioritization, graceful degradation, and partial-failure handling.
- Operate and improve Kubernetes and AWS infrastructure, including probes, rollouts, rollbacks, graceful shutdown, autoscaling, and resource limits, using Pulumi.
- Improve queue and job reliability through idempotency, poison-pill containment, and stalled-job recovery.
- Implement canary deployments, feature-flag rollouts, and lock-aware migrations so deployments can be safely reversed.
- Lead Sev1 and Sev2 incident response, status-page and enterprise communications, blameless postmortems, and durable remediation.
- Remediate pentest findings, including AWS account isolation and secrets management, and maintain SOC 2 and ISO evidence.
- Help optimize GPU infrastructure costs and shape the capabilities of Vizcom’s in-house SRE agent.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience running production systems, preferably in a rapidly growing startup environment.
- Strong observability, incident response, and root cause analysis skills, including experience leading a real Sev1 incident.
- Comfort with Kubernetes, networking, and AWS.
- Hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience with Pulumi, Terraform, or a similar tool.
- Ability to read and fix TypeScript application code in addition to infrastructure code.
- Ownership-oriented approach to diagnosing and resolving problems end to end.
- Clear written communication skills for postmortems and RFCs.
- Experience with GPU or machine-learning inference workloads in production is preferred.
- Experience with queue-heavy systems such as BullMQ, Sidekiq, Celery, or SQS is preferred.
- Experience with SOC 2 or ISO evidence work, pentest remediation, canary deployments, or feature-flag rollouts is preferred.
