Responsibilities
- Build and enhance end-to-end BI solutions from requirements gathering through data modeling, dashboard development, testing, and production support.
- Migrate and modernize SAP BusinessObjects reporting content into IBM Cognos, including report rebuilds, validation, scheduling, and cutover support.
- Develop and maintain IBM Cognos reports, packages, frameworks, and data modules.
- Design performant reporting datasets and layers on Snowflake and/or Databricks using SQL optimization and cost/performance tuning.
- Partner with data owners and data engineering to align reporting with governed, reusable datasets and Master Data Lake data products.
- Lead adoption of approved AI-assisted engineering practices, including code review, refactoring, test acceleration, incident analysis, and validation for correctness, performance, and security.
- Apply software development lifecycle tools and practices, including version control, peer reviews, release management, automated testing, and BI development standards.
- Implement data quality checks, reconciliation, monitoring, incident triage, root-cause analysis, permanent fixes, and documentation.
- Create reusable metric definitions, semantic objects, migration playbooks, and migration factory tooling for BI consolidation.
- Participate in Sigma Computing proof-of-concept work, including dashboard development, Snowflake/Databricks connections through MDL, dashboard migration, and conversational analytics enablement.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP BusinessObjects and IBM Cognos, including report authoring, packages/models, scheduling, and performance troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks, including SQL, data modeling, and large datasets.
- Strong SQL skills covering joins, window functions, aggregations, and query tuning.
- Experience delivering production-grade reporting and analytics solutions with reliability, supportability, and governance.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable reporting and data designs, including migration and coexistence scenarios.
- Experience leading approved AI-assisted software development practices and validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, resiliency, and security expectations, with experience coaching engineers on compliant adoption.
- Hands-on experience with QlikSense, Tableau, or Sigma, including dashboarding, data visualization, and migration.
- Experience with end-to-end BI migration projects, including report inventory analysis, rationalization, prioritization, wave planning, and execution tracking.
- Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts such as dimensional modeling, facts, dimensions, and data marts.
- Preferred qualifications include Sigma expertise, AWS and data lake experience, MDL/data mesh/data product concepts, AI-enabled analytics tools, Python, migration factory tooling, automated validation, and financial services or capital markets experience.
