Responsibilities
- Diagnose and fix production defects across a distributed Java/Spring Boot platform.
- Own issues from reproduction and root-cause analysis through deployed fixes, coordinating with feature teams as needed.
- Work from a prioritized backlog of bugs and technical debt when not handling active escalations.
- Triage issues by severity and business impact and participate in incident bridges as needed.
- Coordinate with Product Management, Professional Services, Operations, and scrum teams to resolve issues.
- Identify recurring defect patterns and advocate for systemic fixes.
- Design, develop, test, estimate, and deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Help shape support processes, rotation models, and operational standards as the team matures.
- Provide software guidance and subject-matter expertise to the development organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent software development experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, production support engineering, or a similar hands-on technical role.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in distributed systems, including log analysis, tracing, and root-cause investigation.
- Proficiency in Java and experience with microservices architectures.
- Ability to read, understand, and modify code across unfamiliar services.
- Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple issues with varying urgency and work independently in an evolving environment.
- Preferred: experience with Kubernetes, event-driven or choreographed microservices, NATS or similar messaging systems, MongoDB or other document databases, Angular, JavaScript, payments or fintech, high-availability transaction processing, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, L3 support, escalation engineering, or customer-facing technical roles.
