Responsibilities
- Architect and evolve the core service backbone used by cloud services and engineering teams.
- Define the long-term technical strategy and architectural vision for scalable cloud services.
- Lead architectural decisions, deep-dive code reviews, and technical trade-off evaluations.
- Design and manage globally distributed, multi-region cloud deployments with Infrastructure as Code.
- Automate infrastructure and enable self-service workflows so developers can ship safely and efficiently.
- Optimize infrastructure performance, reliability, and cost across cloud environments.
- Establish software engineering and DevOps standards for monitoring, observability, incident response, and blameless post-mortems.
- Lead incident prevention and response through proactive hardening and rapid remediation.
- Embed security best practices and compliance guardrails into the infrastructure layer.
- Bridge hardware, product, and engineering teams to develop robust end-to-end technical solutions.
- Build consensus on complex technical approaches and mentor engineers in distributed systems, cloud design, and architecture.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python or Go (Golang) with experience building, testing, and maintaining production distributed services.
- Deep experience with relational, document, or time-series databases, performant SQL, and data schema optimization at scale.
- Extensive hands-on experience architecting and operating AWS infrastructure using EKS, S3, SQS, RDS, Cognito, and Lambda.
- Advanced mastery of Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code tools for multi-region, highly available deployments.
- Strong Kubernetes and Docker experience, including containerized deployment pipelines and service meshes in high-traffic production environments.
- Strong foundations in networking, security, distributed compute, storage, and observability using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives, mentor engineers, drive consensus, perform build-versus-buy analyses, and evaluate vendors.
- Experience with modern DevOps and SRE practices, blameless post-mortems, proactive system hardening, and clear communication across hardware, product, and software teams.
