Base Salary
$142k - $221k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build real-time inventory positioning decision pipelines across Nordstrom’s fulfillment network.
- Own end-to-end implementation of Pack & Hold Reimagined, Returns Positioning, and Racking capabilities with upstream and downstream integration.
- Analyze complex inventory state problems and implement automation to improve delivery of positioning services.
- Make and communicate technical tradeoffs involving architecture, components, databases, delivery timelines, and long-term business needs.
- Design system interactions, deployment processes, alerting, metrics, and events that improve performance, uptime, and failure detection.
- Work with business, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver production enhancements and bug fixes.
- Provide actionable feedback in code and system design reviews, document processes, and ensure solutions are extensible, secure, testable, and maintainable.
- Deliver full-stack features, build reusable cross-platform components, and translate requirements, designs, and wireframes into high-quality code.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call responsibilities, complex incident resolution, technical interviews, and mentoring of junior engineers.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional experience in the practice area.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience analyzing, designing, coding, testing, installing, and maintaining complex software programs.
- Knowledge of Java and the Java Spring Boot framework.
- Strong grasp of multiple technology stacks; Python, React, JavaScript, and C# experience is a plus.
- Experience with backend databases, preferably Spanner, or with NoSQL or Postgres databases.
- Experience with event-driven applications and AWS or GCP services.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, testing tools, and modern software development practices.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design, application design patterns, system metrics, real-time alerting, reporting, and dashboards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, collaborative cross-functional experience, and the ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences.
- Curiosity about using AI to optimize work processes and a passion for operational excellence, new technologies, and customer impact.
