Responsibilities
- Research existing and new vulnerabilities.
- Develop checks/plugins to detect vulnerabilities.
- Implement advanced detection logic while minimizing false positives and negatives.
- Participate in discussions on detection logic and research new detection methods.
- Interface with stakeholders to externalize research outcomes.
- Train and assist other researchers as needed.
- Stay updated on security industry advancements and perform original research.
- Develop detection scripts for Tenable’s sensors based on research findings.
- Research detection methods for additional services and products.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of R&D experience.
- In-depth understanding of common security vulnerabilities and detection techniques.
- Expert knowledge of common protocols such as HTTP, DNS, SSH, and SMB.
- Experience with pen-testing and vulnerability research.
- Reverse engineering experience including binary and packet capture analysis.
- Proficiency in C, C++, Assembly, and scripting languages.
- One or more security-related certifications (e.g., OSCP).
- Experience with Nessus Sensor and NASL language.
- Familiarity with security standards such as NIST 800-53 and CIS.
