Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for the personalisation engine and backend systems.
- Design and build scalable platforms for intelligent signals and real-time personalisation.
- Lead the transition from segment-based to individual-based personalisation models.
- Work hands-on across backend systems, APIs, and data integrations in a high-scale environment.
- Partner with multiple squads on architecture, performance, and delivery alignment.
- Improve engineering standards across testing, observability, and deployment practices.
- Explore new technologies and approaches beyond the current ecosystem.
- Mentor engineers and raise the team’s technical capability.
Requirements
- Deep backend engineering expertise with strong architectural experience.
- Experience delivering large-scale, customer-facing platforms in complex environments.
- Experience with distributed systems, APIs, and event-driven architecture.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive solutions in greenfield or evolving environments.
- Strong learning agility, curiosity, and an innovation mindset.
- Confidence challenging existing thinking and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work cross-functionally while balancing hands-on engineering with strategic leadership.
- Experience with personalisation, recommendation systems, or customer experience platforms is highly valued but not essential.
- Beneficial exposure to .NET, C#, Node.js, microservices, event-driven systems, real-time data processing, customer behavioural data, signals, decisioning engines, CI/CD, automation, and modern deployment practices.
