Responsibilities
- Develop and support cloud-native storage for Rakuten Symphony’s platform.
- Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, scalable storage systems.
- Execute projects from feature specification and design through implementation and validation with minimal supervision.
- Create design documents, feature specifications, bug updates, work plans, milestones, and time estimates.
- Participate constructively in design and code reviews.
- Collaborate with QA on effective feature test plans.
- Benchmark performance and identify and troubleshoot bottlenecks.
- Program in both kernel and user space.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of systems software development experience.
- Strong C/C++ programming skills.
- Experience with Python, shell scripting, and Linux.
- At least 1 year of enterprise-quality filesystem or storage software development experience.
- Understanding of multithreading, race conditions, concurrent systems, and on-disk and in-memory data structures and algorithms.
- BS, MS, PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work successfully as part of a team and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Preferred: experience designing and developing hyperconverged or distributed storage systems.
- Preferred: experience debugging and fixing data-corruption issues.
- Preferred: experience implementing erasure coding for data protection.
- Fluent English proficiency.
