Responsibilities
- Own technical direction across the Virtual Assembly Line’s growth and operations engineering domain.
- Set the technical bar, make and enforce architectural decisions, and personally solve the hardest engineering problems.
- Translate business and product requirements into scalable technical solutions for digitized installation branches.
- Architect systems and APIs with machine-readable contracts for AI agents.
- Lead the team’s transition to agentic engineering while ensuring safe automation and human accountability.
- Mentor and challenge engineers and build a high-performing engineering culture.
- Embed security and reliability as direct customer value.
- Own features end-to-end from problem definition through shipping and maintenance.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of hands-on software development experience using multiple general-purpose programming languages.
- Extensive experience architecting scalable and secure systems with a strong focus on quality.
- Extensive experience designing and implementing APIs for system integrations and automated consumers such as AI agents.
- Experience driving technical alignment and following through on critical technical decisions in fast-paced environments.
- Experience leading a team through a major workflow or tooling shift, including determining where AI-agent automation is safe.
- Ability to communicate with business stakeholders and understand the technical implications of their requirements.
- Proven ability to work across the full feature lifecycle with product managers and business stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills; German proficiency is a plus.
