Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction, architecture, and roadmap for agentic systems that process trade data and produce real-time risk, classification, and compliance decisions.
- Design reliable and cost-efficient pipelines covering data ingestion, document understanding, entity resolution, inference, and model routing.
- Fine-tune and post-train models using SFT, DPO, reinforcement learning, domain graders, analyst feedback, production outcomes, and agent traces.
- Build evaluation, tracing, observability, and feedback systems that identify regressions and guide production releases.
- Mentor senior engineers, raise engineering standards, and help shape ML hiring and leveling.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, product managers, and customers to turn ambiguous problems into shipped capabilities and new business ideas.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, machine learning, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience building and shipping production ML systems and product-oriented ML solutions, including recent LLM-powered products.
- Deep expertise in PyTorch and the modern Python ML stack, including Hugging Face, scikit-learn, NumPy, and Pandas/Polars.
- Hands-on experience building production LLM applications using RAG, tool or function calling, structured outputs, and agentic workflows.
- Experience shipping agentic systems and understanding tool use, planning, state, recovery, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Experience post-training or adapting LLMs using SFT, DPO, RLHF/RLAIF, or reward modeling.
- Experience building evaluation suites, golden datasets, and LLM-as-judge pipelines.
- Ability to choose among frontier model APIs, fine-tuned open-weight models, and classical ML models based on cost, latency, and accuracy.
- Senior Staff-level technical leadership, including setting architecture direction across teams, mentoring engineers, and creating roadmaps from ambiguous problems.
- Preferred experience with multi-agent systems, LangGraph, hybrid retrieval, vision-language models, multilingual NLP, LLMOps, safety, guardrails, or auditability in regulated or high-stakes domains.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to engineering excellence, supportability, and knowledge-sharing.
- Heavy daily use of AI coding tools such as Cursor and Claude Code.
Benefits
- Remote or hybrid work in the United States or UK, with optional hubs in New York City, Boston, Washington D.C., or London.
- Flexible Time Off policy.
- Paid parental leave of 14 weeks for non-birthing, adoptive, and foster parents and up to 26 weeks for birthing parents, paid at 100% of base salary.
