Responsibilities
- Own and grow software-in-the-loop environments, including product variants, scenarios, simulated sensor and video pipelines, and runtime optimization.
- Build functional hardware-in-the-loop coverage for motion control, trajectory execution, camera and sensor bring-up, firmware updates, network failover, power loss, and unexpected reboots.
- Own CI integration, including scheduling, dependency chaining, artifact and log capture, result reporting, and flaky-test triage.
- Expand the test platform for new compute generations, payloads, and product variants.
- Develop diagnostic tooling with log capture, serial console capture, and test artifacts so failures can be investigated from CI output.
- Partner with hardware and manufacturing engineers to build and expand physical HITL benches, fixtures, switching, power control, and instrumentation.
- Enable firmware, platform, and business line teams to add tests to the framework and support them as users.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful experience building test infrastructure, CI systems, or simulation for systems involving real hardware.
- Proficiency in Python for test authoring and automation, plus working ability in Rust or C++ for reading and debugging services under test.
- Demonstrated experience automating tests against physical hardware, including device provisioning, remote power and reset control, serial consoles, network booting, or instrumented benches.
- Strong CI/CD engineering experience with expensive stages, hardware resource contention, and scheduled execution.
- Experience with declarative configuration and reproducible builds; Nix or NixOS is preferred, with Bazel, Buildroot, Yocto, Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi as adjacent alternatives.
- Solid Linux systems fundamentals, including systemd, networking, filesystems, and boot processes.
- Ability to evaluate test cost and fix or remove flaky tests.
- US person status and eligibility to obtain and maintain a US security clearance are required.
- Experience with robotics or vehicle simulation using Unreal, Unity, Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or custom simulators is preferred.
- Familiarity with NVIDIA Jetson provisioning and flashing workflows is preferred.
- Experience with virtualization and VM-based integration testing, including GPU passthrough, is preferred.
- Background in hardware test engineering, HIL rigs, or manufacturing test systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with CAN, serial protocols, or bus-level diagnostic tooling is preferred.
