Base Salary

$120k - $261k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Determine user requirements with stakeholders and contribute to feature design documents with limited oversight.
  • Implement code for Azure Storage products, services, and features while reusing existing code where appropriate.
  • Break down larger work items, provide estimates, and identify dependencies.
  • Serve as an on-call Designated Responsible Individual to monitor services and restore them during simple incidents.
  • Improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, performance, monitoring, and operations at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in C, C++, or Java, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security-screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree with 6+ years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred experience includes software engineering practices, data structures and algorithms, debugging, analytical problem solving, and 3+ years in storage, file systems, distributed systems, operating systems, or large-scale TCP and RDMA networking.
  • Experience with operating-system internals, production diagnostics, large-scale service operations, complex investigations, root-cause resolution, and reliability improvement is preferred.

Benefits

  • The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $119,800–$234,700 per year, with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range of USD $160,200–$261,000 per year.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
  • The position is open for at least 5 days and accepts applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
