Responsibilities
- Own a large portion of one of Ashby’s products and drive projects from customer problem discovery through delivery.
- Research customer needs and competitors, write product specifications, create wireframes, and make product and technical decisions.
- Design and build full-stack product features for Ashby’s talent acquisition platform and future products.
- Develop powerful abstractions and flexible systems for complex user problems.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, infrastructure engineers, and other stakeholders while maintaining clear communication.
- Investigate and resolve customer issues as part of the engineering team.
- Build automation, tooling, abstractions, and other improvements that increase engineering leverage.
- Participate in pair programming, technical design discussions, and infrastructure-focused collaboration during the interview and engineering process.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience leading or owning software projects end to end.
- Experience tackling projects with substantial product and technical ambiguity.
- Ability to work across the technology stack, including frontend, backend, and infrastructure as needed.
- Strong product thinking, customer focus, and ability to make product and design decisions.
- Ability to balance delivery speed with software quality.
- Excellent collaboration and deliberate written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience creating leverage through automation, abstractions, tools, or developer-experience improvements.
- Openness to feedback and continuous improvement.
- Prior experience with Ashby’s listed technology stack is not required; strong fundamentals and a willingness to learn are valued.
- A love of typed languages is helpful.
