Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain PLC software and simulation concepts for PLC-controlled machine functions.
- Design, program, and modularize PLC applications according to the IEC 61131-3 standard.
- Develop PLC control logic primarily in Structured Text and object-oriented programming.
- Perform requirements analysis, software design, development, and unit testing.
- Provide technical expertise for estimation and project planning.
- Acquire and demonstrate technical knowledge of LIS product software.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Identify, review, and mitigate technical risks with the Software Manager.
- Collaborate with system engineering, PLC and software teams, application software teams, hardware and electronics development, other development sites, and partner teams.
- Contribute ideas to improve organizational development procedures and follow KLA software development processes.
Requirements
- BE, BS, BTech, or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- At least five years of PLC development experience using the IEC 61131-3 standard.
- Hands-on experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT or another PLC development system and fieldbus fundamentals.
- Knowledge of software development life cycle practices and software engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience in analysis, design, development, and unit testing.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across business and technical areas and organizational levels.
- Analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
- Willingness to travel to Germany, the USA, and other customer locations on short-term assignments.
- Preferred experience with hardware-in-the-loop or automated PLC testing.
- Preferred knowledge of C#, Python, C, C++, Windows Internals, EtherCAT, and CANOpen.
- Experience with PLC systems such as Beckhoff TwinCAT, Siemens TIA, Siemens STEP7, CODESYS, Rockwell, or similar systems is relevant.
