Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Java and Python applications across development, test, and production environments.
- Perform security validation, performance tuning, debugging, and software engineering best-practice reviews.
- Support applications after production deployment and maintain operational stability.
- Automate deployment and infrastructure pipelines across on-premises and public cloud environments.
- Write unit and integration tests, software documentation, and operational runbooks.
- Identify system problems and patterns and use them to improve coding hygiene and system architecture.
- Create architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensure engineering meets design constraints.
- Gather requirements with product owners and design scalable, secure applications.
- Lead application delivery, continuity-awareness activities, training, education, and exercises.
- Work collaboratively and independently in an agile two-week sprint environment.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least five years of applied experience.
- Application development, debugging, and code-maintenance experience in modern programming languages and database-querying languages for enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- At least five years of applied Java experience, including Spring and Spring Boot.
- Proficiency with distributed systems, resiliency, security, software development life cycle practices, and Agile methodologies.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, SQL, and ORM technologies including JPA and Hibernate.
- Hands-on experience with Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and application performance management using tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented concepts, analysis, design, and common design patterns.
- Preferred qualifications include an associate-level or higher AWS certification and a Kubernetes certification.
