Base Salary
$120k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Bring up audio on new Android hardware, including codecs, microphones, speakers, routing, and low-level platform integration.
- Design, implement, and manage playback, capture, voice, and always-on listening audio use cases on SoC platforms.
- Integrate and tune audio paths across Android Audio HAL, AudioFlinger, Audio Policy Manager, TinyALSA/ALSA, and underlying SoC audio frameworks.
- Debug audio issues end-to-end using platform logs and kernel and DSP traces through application-level symptoms.
- Support audio-driven inference workloads such as wake word, ASR, and speech enhancement within latency, power, and memory budgets.
- Collaborate with hardware, acoustics, AI, and product teams from prototype through production.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional firmware or embedded audio development experience, ideally on consumer products shipped at scale.
- Proficiency with C/C++ in resource-constrained, real-time environments.
- Familiarity with Android audio architecture, including Audio HAL, AudioFlinger, Audio Policy Manager, and TinyALSA/ALSA interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with audio tooling and frameworks.
- Experience across kernel drivers, DSP firmware, HAL, and framework layers, including cross-stack debugging.
- Experience working with hardware engineers during board bring-up and reading schematics for audio subsystems.
- Working knowledge of dynamic range control, echo cancellation, noise suppression, beamforming, or similar audio processing algorithms is beneficial.
- DSP optimization experience with fixed-point development, SIMD, and VLIW is beneficial.
- Experience deploying machine learning models on embedded platforms, especially audio models on DSP or NPU, is beneficial.
- Background shipping voice-first or far-field audio products is beneficial.
