Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale backend services and APIs for the Content Platform with emphasis on availability, resilience, and maintainability.
- Implement low-level designs, API contracts, and data models for large-scale content ingestion, storage, enrichment, and distribution.
- Write clean, testable, and documented code with unit, integration, and contract tests, and contribute to automated deployment and release processes.
- Diagnose production defects and performance issues, participate in on-call rotations, and improve observability, reliability, and incident response.
- Collaborate with Product, Program, and Engineering teams to translate business and content requirements into technical solutions.
- Mentor peers through design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Safely integrate and operate AI and machine-learning-enabled solutions that improve content quality, relevance, and automation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Ability to identify project-level business problems and advocate for effective solutions.
- Experience designing and delivering projects across at least four products that are highly testable and observable, with the ability to guide others in these practices.
- Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, gRPC, REST, GraphQL APIs, cloud platforms preferably AWS, NoSQL and relational databases, Redis, Valkey, or MemcacheD, and preferably Kotlin and Java.
- Subject matter expertise in products or domains related to the work.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability through data modeling, caching, and observability improvements for high-volume workloads.
- Experience with multi-service or domain-level backend architectures, versioned APIs, and schema evolution is preferred.
- Experience leading complex technical implementations, influencing service and API design, and promoting testing, deployment, and incident-management practices is preferred.
- Familiarity with AI-driven content or data workflows and hands-on application of AI and machine learning concepts in large-scale backend systems is preferred.
- French and English bilingualism is considered an asset.
