Base Salary
$274k - $370k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and continually improve Auth0’s technology stack and architecture in collaboration with Product, Security, and Engineering.
- Lead innovation in identity and agentic identity and drive initiatives that enhance, scale, and evolve Auth0’s products.
- Design, architect, document, and implement large-scale distributed systems and broadly scoped functionality.
- Embed with engineering teams on major projects and provide architectural guidance for smaller initiatives.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot Node.js and Go applications and develop proof-of-concept and production software.
- Create consistent technical foundations using cloud, database, caching, and container technologies.
- Investigate scalability, resource efficiency, performance, and reliability bottlenecks while supporting a 99.99% uptime SLA.
- Drive technical decisions balancing simplicity, flexibility, reliability, cost, and performance.
- Mentor engineers, participate in technical round tables, and help advance engineering culture.
- Participate in the Engineering Leadership Team and the Incident Commander on-call rotation for high-severity incidents.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience.
- 5+ years of experience working on cloud applications.
- Experience building API-first applications using REST and/or gRPC.
- Deep hands-on software development experience building distributed systems.
- Knowledge of identity protocols including OAuth, OIDC, and SAML, along with industry knowledge of authentication and authorization.
- Experience building AI agents and/or MCP server applications.
- Experience with security engineering, application security, and cloud security best practices.
- Experience with multi-cloud environments and container deployments, particularly Kubernetes in AWS and Azure.
- Experience with application performance management, tracing, and performance testing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with executives, customers, engineers, and product managers.
- Ability to create clarity and alignment, build trust across teams, and reach consensus on technical vision.
- Preferred: deep experience with Node.js using JavaScript or TypeScript, or with Golang.

- Annual base salary range of $274,000–$370,000 for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
