Responsibilities
- Own software quality for firmware and device operating system components across Stripe Terminal payment devices.
- Collaborate with developers on software planning, change reviews, release meetings, specifications, expected behaviors, risks, and spot testing.
- Create test plans and cases covering configurations, user scenarios, reliability, and customer use cases.
- Perform Bluetooth validation across devices, edge cases, recovery scenarios, enterprise network configurations, and security types.
- Design and execute testing for power performance, battery behavior, sleep and wake reliability, and degraded operating conditions.
- Build and maintain lab setups and test environments that support repeatable, production-like validation.
- Co-lead software quality incident remediation, including root cause analysis and solution development.
- Establish quality assurance processes, optimize test cases, expand automated coverage with automation engineers, and mentor junior quality engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of software quality assurance experience for embedded systems or firmware, including software change analysis and test coverage impact assessment.
- Experience developing test strategies, test plans, and test cases from product requirements.
- Ability to identify software defect root causes and proactively mitigate risks.
- Strong leadership, communication, ownership, and influencing skills, with excellent verbal and written English communication.
- Preferred: experience with payment terminal devices, EMV certification, or Payment Card Industry compliance.
- Preferred: knowledge of embedded systems, real-time operating systems, and firmware development.
- Preferred: familiarity with payment processing systems or financial technology.
- Preferred: experience mentoring junior team members on technical skills and test design.
