Base Salary
$277k - $364k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services for real-time abuse, fraud, and bot defense, including rate limiters, CAPTCHA, proof-of-work, 2FA, rules engines, and account enforcement APIs.
- Deploy detection and enforcement from the edge to product services in ways that are easy to roll back, auditable, and low-friction for legitimate users.
- Build logging and metrics to measure blocked activity, successful abuse, and false-positive rates.
- Protect signup, login, payments, and song-generation flows from account farming, credential stuffing, card testing, and credit abuse.
- Shape the Bots and Fraud team’s architecture, roadmap, and on-call practices.
- Provide technical leadership and raise engineering standards across the organization.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- 5+ years of backend development experience on distributed systems.
- 3+ years of experience in trust and safety, anti-abuse, or fraud prevention.
- 3+ years of technical leadership across a team.
- Experience with AWS, ECS, Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, S3, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and Valkey/Redis is preferred.
- Experience detecting and stopping automated abuse of public APIs through request telemetry, rate limiting, and challenges is preferred.
- Experience building or operating payments fraud and chargeback systems is preferred.
- Experience using AI to improve development workflows, on-call operations, and investigations is preferred.
