Base Salary
$266k - $445k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build systems for purchasing, payments, subscriptions, and billing across OpenAI products and global markets.
- Build product catalogs, SKUs, bundles, workspace systems, and entitlement systems connecting purchases to product access.
- Develop metering systems, data pipelines, and APIs that produce accurate bills, spending information, and traceable records from high-volume usage.
- Ensure charges and product access remain correct across retries, delayed updates, and service failures.
- Create reusable foundations for launching new products, pricing, and payment options.
- Scale and evolve live systems while protecting customer access, financial accuracy, performance, and security.
- Own technical problems from design through launch and operation while collaborating with product, design, finance, and engineering teams.
- Use customer feedback and experiments to simplify complex financial workflows for customers and internal teams.
Requirements
- Strong backend engineering experience appropriate for a Staff+ role.
- Experience with payments, subscriptions, pricing, billing, or systems managing customer purchases and revenue is preferred.
- Experience with product catalogs, packaging and bundles, workspace management, entitlements, or usage metering is preferred.
- Experience building financial or transaction systems at scale, reconciling records across systems, or supporting compliance and audits is preferred.
