Responsibilities
- Implement usage and billing system changes across UI updates, raw usage events, metering, aggregation, entitlement enforcement, ledger updates, and Stripe invoicing.
- Evolve the ledger as the source of truth for customer balances, credits, overages, and adjustments.
- Integrate Stripe subscriptions, usage records, invoices, webhooks, prorations, plan changes, and failed payment recovery.
- Build billing APIs and internal tools for querying customer state, issuing credits, and investigating billing anomalies.
- Improve observability for metering lag, reconciliation discrepancies, invoice accuracy, and billing regressions.
- Partner with product, infrastructure, and finance teams to launch new pricing models with minimal operational risk.
- Own usage and limits, payments, grants and promotions, the ledger, and internal billing insights.
Requirements
- Experience shipping a usage-based billing system in production, including opinions on metering architecture, idempotency, and exactly-once semantics.
- Deep experience integrating Stripe and understanding its data model, including handling failed or erroring webhooks.
- Experience building or maintaining a financial ledger.
- Strong focus on correctness, revenue accuracy, customer trust, and invoice reliability.
- Ability to ship end-to-end features spanning infrastructure and user interface changes.
- Ability to balance rapid delivery with financial-system correctness.
