Base Salary
$152k - $202k/yr
Responsibilities
- Embed with domain experts to observe, document, and formally model undocumented workflows and tacit knowledge.
- Audit and replace legacy or bespoke tools using AI-native and conventional engineering approaches while managing safe deprecation.
- Architect multi-step AI agent workflows with tool use, context management, evaluation, and failure or fallback strategies.
- Design human-in-the-loop decision structures, escalation thresholds, audit trails, feedback loops, and reviewer calibration mechanisms.
- Define which decisions require human approval, review, or override and support the transition of experts into reviewer and teacher roles.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- At least 5 years of experience in software or AI engineering, including at least 2 years building LLM-based or agent-based systems.
- Demonstrated ability to extract tacit knowledge from domain experts through process mining, cognitive task analysis, or equivalent methods.
- Experience designing and deploying multi-step, tool-using AI agent orchestration with evaluation.
- Strong end-to-end systems thinking and a track record of replacing legacy systems without disrupting operations.
- Valued qualifications include knowledge engineering, expert systems, decision support, aerospace or aviation regulatory experience, and regulated or safety-critical environment experience.
