Responsibilities
- Architect and lead scalable, secure, high-performance RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and event-driven integrations.
- Design agentic API migration factories using chained LLM-driven pipelines and human-gated pull request reviews.
- Create and govern GitHub Copilot Skills and AI-assisted engineering accelerators.
- Establish OpenAPI Specification-first workflows, API standards, architectural patterns, governance, and lifecycle management.
- Partner with product owners, engineering teams, enterprise architects, and business stakeholders to deliver API-led solutions.
- Drive cloud-native API architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Implement API security controls including OAuth2, JWT, SSO, encryption, rate limiting, and threat mitigation.
- Evaluate and integrate API management platforms such as Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, and MuleSoft.
- Guide teams on microservices, domain-driven design, event-driven systems, and asynchronous communication.
- Establish observability, monitoring, performance engineering, and scalability testing frameworks.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural guidance to engineering teams.
- Collaborate with DevOps and platform engineering teams on deployment automation, quality controls, and infrastructure as code.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5+ years in solution, principal, or enterprise architecture roles.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Express.js, NestJS, and Fastify.
- Extensive experience designing enterprise-scale API platforms and integration architectures.
- Experience modernizing legacy applications and APIs with cloud-native and microservices-based approaches.
- Experience with LLM-powered automation, AI-assisted development, GitHub Copilot customization, or agentic engineering workflows.
- Deep understanding of REST, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSockets, and event-driven integration patterns.
- Strong knowledge of API security, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, caching, and governance.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, serverless architectures, and container orchestration.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and automated testing frameworks.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.
- Preferred qualifications include relevant AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud architecture certifications.
- Preferred experience includes enterprise AI platforms, generative AI, LLM orchestration, Kafka, RabbitMQ, EventBridge, observability platforms, API monetization, developer portals, and large-scale modernization programs.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and globally distributed team experience.
