Responsibilities
- Define standards and vision for the observability platform.
- Design and implement observability improvements for MongoDB engineers and customers.
- Handle production customer escalations and coach teammates.
- Write production-ready database code and mentor the team.
- Own all code maintained by the Observability Team.
- Diagnose test failures and fix bugs in existing code.
- Investigate performance impacts of code changes.
- Interview candidates for advanced software engineering positions.
- Develop expertise on cutting-edge database and observability developments.
- Lead development and project management of large projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on large initiatives.
- Advise Product Management on technical product direction.
- Collaborate with leadership to define product roadmaps.
- Champion and improve unit and integration tests.
- Work with customers and support engineers to fix issues.
Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of experience in designing and programming distributed systems.
- Experience with latency-sensitive, high throughput systems.
- Strong systems fundamentals including multi-threaded programming.
- Familiarity with database internals or data processing systems.
- Familiarity with observability ecosystem and best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills.
- Strong time and project management skills.
- Good understanding of information security management.
