Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction for the Mailchimp Forms frontend platform, including micro-frontend boundaries, module federation, composition, versioning, rollback, and migration from legacy rendering paths.
  • Own schema definition, validation, versioning, backward compatibility, and rendering for dynamic form experiences.
  • Drive client-side operational excellence through SLOs, error budgets, real-user performance monitoring, Core Web Vitals, telemetry, alerting, and postmortems.
  • Lead work across scoping, design, implementation, testing, documentation, rollout, and long-term maintenance.
  • Raise engineering quality through design reviews, pairing, and architecture guidance on integration, performance, accessibility, and scalability.
  • Extend the design system through component APIs, design tokens, and theming for embedded customer experiences.
  • Own WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, keyboard and screen-reader behavior, and automated accessibility checks in CI.
  • Use AI coding agents and GenAI-assisted development while helping establish appropriate guardrails and review standards.
  • Share production ownership and participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Significant experience designing and implementing scalable frontend architectures and maintainable, performant, observable software.
  • Production experience building or substantially evolving micro-frontend architectures, including independently deployable frontends, shared runtimes, cross-team contracts, isolation, and versioning.
  • Deep expertise in schema-driven or config-driven UI, JSON Schema or equivalent contract languages, dynamic form rendering, declarative validation, schema evolution, backward compatibility, and code generation.
  • Strong software engineering and operational excellence fundamentals, including testing strategy, CI/CD, progressive delivery, feature flags, instrumentation, observability, and incident response.
  • Fluency in modern JavaScript or TypeScript and a major component framework, with React preferred.
  • Deep understanding of browser behavior, bundle size, hydration, rendering performance, and third-party embedding constraints.
  • Commitment to accessibility and design-system consistency as part of the definition of done.
  • Ability to resolve ambiguity, prioritize work, identify dependencies, facilitate technical decisions, and communicate clearly in design documents, ADRs, and review comments.
  • Comfort working in a distributed team and actively building an inclusive environment.
  • Preferred experience includes embedded widgets or SDKs, large-scale monolith-to-modular migrations, edge rendering, or design-system stewardship across multiple consuming teams.

Benefits

  • The position may be eligible for cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits under applicable plans and programs.
  • The expected base pay range is $202,500–$274,000 for New York.
