Responsibilities
- Own the overall technical architecture and long-term technical vision of the platform.
- Drive architectural decisions across multiple teams and systems while balancing speed, scale, maintainability, reliability, and developer velocity.
- Identify systemic engineering problems and lead organization-wide solutions.
- Partner with engineering leads to design and review critical systems before implementation.
- Champion engineering patterns, tooling, infrastructure practices, and technology adoption.
- Mentor and develop senior and staff engineers and raise the technical bar.
- Represent engineering architecture in cross-functional discussions with product, operations, and leadership.
- Contribute to hiring decisions and help define world-class engineering standards.
Requirements
- 15+ years of software engineering experience with a record of organization-wide architectural impact.
- Expert-level Go experience and deep knowledge of distributed systems design, microservices, and large-scale service architectures.
- Mastery of Docker and Kubernetes, including production-grade large-scale deployments.
- Deep Linux/Unix expertise from the operating-system level upward.
- Ability to make thoughtful, consequential architectural decisions with long-term implications.
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to lead through influence rather than authority.
- Solid understanding of cloud-native infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Preferred experience with industrial IoT, edge computing, or real-time data pipelines such as MQTT, NATS, or OPC-UA.
- Preferred experience with Architecture Decision Records, technical writing, or open-source contributions.
- Preferred background in platform engineering, developer productivity, or DevSecOps.
- Preferred experience with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud strategies and high-growth startups.
