Responsibilities
- Plan, create, and manage the overall quality planning strategy and documentation.
- Improve automated test capabilities through test design and code contributions.
- Perform automated and manual testing of Ubuntu Desktop, Server, and Core on current hardware.
- Identify, isolate, document, and triage product bugs, test reports, and customer issues.
- Collaborate with development and project teams across multiple projects to build effective automated testing.
- Identify QA bottlenecks, oversee continuous improvement projects, collect quality data, and establish proactive measures to improve Ubuntu quality and reliability.
- Prepare testing estimates and schedules and suggest solutions to identified product problems.
Requirements
- Experience with the Linux desktop and related technologies; Ubuntu experience is a plus.
- Solid understanding of commercial software QA practices and how to integrate them with Linux community standards.
- Experience with common scripting languages, including Shell script, Python, or JavaScript.
- Comfort with online communication and collaboration tools such as mailing lists, Mattermost, and wiki.
- Strong logic, problem-solving, troubleshooting, written communication, and spoken English skills.
- Ability to work productively in a globally distributed team and learn new technologies quickly.
