Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop, test, document, improve, and maintain platform services and backend applications for Apple Retail.
- Build and operate scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant, secure cloud-based distributed systems.
- Lead software projects spanning multiple distributed teams and mentor senior-level software engineers.
- Design and implement message-driven and event-driven architectures, asynchronous service communication, and reliable data systems.
- Develop APIs, observability solutions, search capabilities, and performance optimizations for large-scale systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional work experience.
- At least 8 years of professional software development experience, with 4 or more years of Java experience.
- Mastery of Java concurrency, memory management, performance optimization, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
- Experience building production applications with Spring, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data, Spring Cloud, dependency injection, auto-configuration, WebFlux, and Spring-based microservices.
- Experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, containerization, orchestration, and tools such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience designing and shipping high-scale, high-performance, highly available, fault-tolerant, and secure distributed systems.
- Experience with messaging systems, event sourcing, CQRS, relational and NoSQL databases, schema design, query optimization, and transaction fundamentals.
- Preferred experience leading distributed-team projects as a technical lead, mentoring senior engineers, using GenAI coding tools, building search systems, implementing observability, understanding networking and JVM internals, and designing APIs.
